Climate Change

 CLIMATE CHANGE

What did you do in lab today?

What are the primary points in the video?

  • The Earth is warming because of human activities like burning fossil fuels and cutting down forests.

  • The movie shows melting ice, flooding, wildfires, and deforestation happening around the world.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio visits different countries to show how climate change affects people and nature.

What are the major issues?

  • Climate Change
  • Pollution
  • Deforestation
  • Fossil Fuels
  • Natural Disasters
  • Rising Sea Levels

What questions do you want us to teach you?

  • How can schools teach more about protecting the planet?
  • As a future teacher what can I do in my classroom to help save the planet
  • How AI affects Climate Change
  • How data collection works for Climate Change
  • Comparisons of Climate Trends

Youre a teacher: how would you like us to teach you?

What was the big question?

What causes rainfall?

Has rainfall changed in Iowa, nationally and globally over the past 100 years?

What did you learn in Thursday’s discussion?

4. Read the online textbook, chapter 12

1. What did you learn?

Hotter temperatures and extreme weather make it harder for crops to grow.

  • Heavy rains can flood fields, wash away soil, and delay planting.

  • Droughts dry out the soil and reduce crop health and yields.

  • More pests and plant diseases appear as the climate warms, creating new challenges for farmers.

  • 2. What was most helpful?

    • Learning the clear difference between weather and climate and how LOWERN factors influence climate.

    • The Iowa-specific examples made it easier to understand how climate change affects where we live.

    3. What do you need more information on?

  • I want to know more about how climate change affects local wildlife like the goldfinch.

  • I’d also like more details on what communities and farmers in Iowa are doing to adapt to these changes.

  • 6. What questions, concerns, and/or comments do you have? N/A
