What was the big question?

What are the significant events in the history of the earth?

What did you learn in Thursday’s discussion? NO DISCUSSION THIS WEEK

4. Read the online textbook, chapter 6: 5. https://pressbooks.uiowa.edu/science-methods-ii/chapter/history-of-the- earth/

1. What did you learn?

Earth was formed 4.65 Billion years ago

Snowball Earth was caused by a chain of events called a postive feedback loop

Why is Earth not covered in ice now if the positive feedback loop continues forever?

  • The leading theory is that volcanoes continued erupting during Snowball Earth, emitting high levels of carbon dioxide, which was trapped under the ice.

This led to a new positive feedback loop that resulted in warming of the planet and the end of Snowball Earth

2. What was most helpful?

The most helpful part of this chapter was the diagrams and charts showing what happened. I understood the positive feedback loop because of the flow chart that showed exactly what happened.

3. What do you need more information on?

I feel like I need Ted to reexplain and then i can take notes that are simplied and easier for my brain to understand.

6. What questions, concerns, and/or comments do you have? N/A
